International Women's Day I 8 March 2022

08 March 2022

Gender equality is crucial for sustainable development and is listed as one of the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Inequality threatens long-term global social and economic development, prevents poverty reduction and destroys women’s sense of fulfilment and self-worth. This, in turn, can lead to crime, disease and environmental degradation. Sustainable development cannot be achieved if women are excluded from opportunities, services, and the chance for a better life.

Empowering women has been proven to make economic sense, delivering significant returns both on company balance sheets and across society.  An 'equal opportunities' work environment makes for a happier and healthier organisation - boosting productivity, creativity, reputation, and ultimately profits.  In fact, companies with a strong track record of gender diversity are 15% more likely to have higher earnings than their peers and among all Fortune 500 companies, the ones with the highest representation of women on their boards significantly outperform the others.

Every year at BDO we celebrate International Women's Day

This year's theme is #BreakTheBias.
To mark the event, we've published a report to celebrate women at BDO, featuring inspirational female leaders within our organisation and the firms who are leading the way in the pursuit of gender equality.

Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination.
A world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated.
Together we can forge women's equality. Collectively we can all #BreakTheBias

Please do take the time to read this special report.
